Although records show a distillery at the Ardbeg site since1794, the current Ardbeg distillery was founded in 1815 by Duncan MacDougall which sets Ardbeg as the second oldest distillery on Islay. Purchased by Glenmorangie in 1997 for a cool £7 million it continues to go from strength to strength. Ardbeg means "The little headland" and you can find this delicious single malt whisky contributes to Black Bottle, Teacher's and Ballantine's blended whiskies. Check out the Ardbeg distillery.
