Founded in1812 by Captain William Fraser of Brackla House of the Cawdor estate., Brackla became the first of only three distilleries when in 1835 it was granted the Royal warrant and it then was referred to as "The Kings own whisky". It is also known just as Brackla which means "Speckled Hillslope" Brackla single malt whisky contributes to Johnnie Walker Gold Label and Dewars White Label.
