Bladnoch Distillery (BLAH-D-NOCH)
The distillery was opened in 1814 by John & Thomas McClelland and is the southernmost working distillery in Scotland situated in Wigtown Bay. Not far away from the distillery is Dumfries where Robbie Burns's house is a tourist attraction.
It has had a very chequered career with several opening and closures, notably in 1993 when along with Rosebank, Pittyvaich and Balmenach, it was mothballed by the then owners United Distillers. Out of the three distilleries mentioned, only Balmenach is still working. Bladnoch distillery was eventually sold to the Irish entrepreneur Raymond Armstrong in 1999 and is now distilling that distinctive Lowland single malt Scotch whisky once again. Check out the Bladnoch distillery.
Tasting note: Very soft with floral, malty, fruity notes.
